We Are Biafrans, We Are Not Ashamed To Say It – Iwuanyanwu

Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a business magnate and politician has stated that all Igbos are Biafrans and they can never be ashamed of their identity.

Speaking as a special guest of honour at a National Unity summit organised by Arewa Ambassadors Congress of Nigeria in partnership with Youth Assembly of Nigeria on Wednesday, he said Igbos are the biggest shareholders of Nigeria.

He said the Muhammadu Buhari government was wrong to have arrested Biafra agitator Nnamdi Kanu because he “only expressed his view.”

“No arm was found in his possession. We are Biafrans and we are not ashamed to say it. Igbo have invested more in Nigeria than Arewa and Oduduwa. We want to be one Nigeria in fairness.”

“Biafra is not about secession. It is a name of a particular people in Nigeria from the South East. Therefore, it is not an offense to say that I am a Biafran. There was no victor, no vanquished after the civil war. I am impressed with Yakubu Gowon because he implemented all the agreements reached at the end of the Civil War. Igbo were not deprived at the end of the civil war, “Iwuanyanwu added.

He, therefore, challenged the Nigerian youths to work for the growth of the country and shun tribal and religious sentiments.

“Our Parents’ Death Has Brought Us Closer To Each Other” — Kanu’s Family

Published

on

The family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu said that the death of their parents have them to be more united against the belief by some persons that the family would scatter after the burial.

Though their elder brother, Nnamdi who is the first son of the family was absent at their parent’s burial ceremony, the family of late Israel and Ugoeze Sally Kanu said that they were grateful that the burial of their parents was a huge success.

Addressing journalists at their Isiama Afaraukwu country home, the spokesman of the family, Kanunta Kingsley Kanu thanked Abia State police command and journalists for their contributions towards the peaceful and successful burial of their parents.

Kanunta who also commended members of the IPOB in the state and beyond who stood with the family before, during and after the burial said that their parents were an embodiment of peace when they were alive.

He said it was for this reason that his father as the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu, was given the title of ‘Omeudo’, stressing that he lived with that peaceful virtue till death.

Kanunta said the family owed a lot of gratitude to journalists within and outside Abia for bringing what transpired at the burial to the entire world.

“I want to tell you journalists that our family members are happy with you, with what you did during the burial and we say a big thank you”.

Kanu said the family was also thanking the Abia state police command for the manner they conducted themselves which contributed to the peace that reigned during the burial.

The family said it was happy that despite the altercation between the police and IPOB before the burial, the commissioner of police, Ene Okon exhibited true sense of professionalism in the way he maintained security in the state on the day of the burial.

He said now their parents were no more, the family would strive to remain united and resolute in the fight for the actualization of Biafra, a movement which they said that their parents believed in.

‘We’re Ready To Fight Herdsmen’ — IPOB Declares

Published

on

IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared readiness to battle Herdsmen while calling on residents of South East to be prepared to defend themselves and land against further slaughter.

It decried the alleged involvement of bandits in what it described as “endless cycle of slaughter and mayhem especially in Biafraland,” particularly with recent killings in Delta State.

Speaking yesterday, IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s brave condemnation of Nigerian Army’s involvement in the orgy of violence unleashed by five different terror groups against innocent populations was an indication that the killings were “premeditated slaughter of the defenseless.”

According to him: “IPOB’s message of freedom is the only way out of the present impasse in the fight against state sponsored Fulani terrorism in Nigeria.”

He recalled: “In 2014, before the murderous tendencies of Miyetti Allah was unleashed on hapless Nigerians, way before Fulani herdsmen, bandits, foreign fighters, ISWAP, Ansaru, Al-Qaeda in the Mahgreb descended on innocent citizens, our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said it live on air during his prophetic message of 6th February, 2014 on Radio Biafra that: “Fulani herdsmen will be armed and encouraged to slaughter us with impunity and their masters will protect them.”

He said: “The US government and her law makers will now pay more attention to all IPOB submissions following this confirmation by Gov. Okowa.”

He vowed that IPOB would resist every attempt by the herdsmen to unleash terror on Biafraland.

“Therefore, we are calling on our people to be prepared because we are going to take on Fulani terrorists in our land.”

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has averred that the burial of his parents brought the people of South-East and South-South together as one Biafran family.

Kanu’s parents; His Royal Highness Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu and his wife, Ugoeze Sally Kanu, who died last year, were laid to rest on Friday in their royal compound in Afaraukwu community, Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The IPOB leader who was absent at the funeral took to micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Saturday, February 15, to express his delight at the success of the burial and also thanked those who graced the occasion.

“I’m joyful my parent’s burial finally brought the artificially divided people of SE and SS together as one Biafran family.

“Thank you Biafrans, friends and well-wishers for a truly memorable funeral,” Kanu tweeted.
