IPOB To Army: Leave Us Alone, We Have More Important Things To Do

Published

on

IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has denied claim that it doctored and circulated recent video where member of the Boko Haram killed several Nigerian soldiers.

Recall that the Nigerian Army had accused the pro-Biafra group of being behind the trending video that purported that Boko Haram terrorists captured and killed several troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East.

IPOB said it was a shame for the Army to involve the group in their futile attempt impotence and failed effort to fight Boko Haram.

Reacting to the allegation, IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful berated the Army, saying they belittled themselves by involving IPOB in issue of doctoring a video.

Powerful said that IPOB have more important things to do than engaging in doctoring a video where soldiers were killed.

Loading...

“This recent statement from the thoroughly disgraceful, undignified institution called Nigerian military accusing IPOB of being behind the recent trending video where Boko Haram members torturing and humiliating Nigerian army personnel is laughable.

“This unguarded, shameful and thoroughly unsubstantiated accusation is very typical of an army that specializes in attacking civilian populations in the south but cringe at the sight of a well armed opposition in the north.

“It is quite pathetic how the Nigeria army would belittle themselves so shamelessly in the eyes of the world by involving IPOB in their futile attempt to deflect attention from their impotence and failed effort to fight a terrorism menace they themselves created in Nigeria. The Nigerian Army must understand that Biafra is not Nigeria.

“IPOB have more important things to do than engaging in doctoring a video that is so clear for all to see. Maybe Nigerian the Army think the world is as undiscerning as their typical Nigerian. Rather than coming out in public to make a complete fool of themselves; Buratai and his Nigerian Army should invite forensic experts to corroborate their claim if they are confident they are speaking the truth.

“The video of Boko Haram torturing and humiliating the cowardly Nigerian Army that specialize in committing crimes against unarmed populations in Biafra is real and verifiable. IPOB has nothing to do with the trending video and cannot involve itself with this brotherly spat between Boko Haram and Nigeria Army because they have the same Fulanisation agenda for Nigeria.

“Nigeria Army and Boko Haram are both terrorist organisations pursuing the same goal with the only difference being that Nigerian army specialise exclusively, in attacking civilians in the east.

“This shameful statement from Nigeria Army proves that the Nigeria Army and her sisters security outfits in Nigeria have lost control of their phony war against Boko Haram and as usual are looking to blame IPOB for their pitiful plight.

“Northern elders (allegedly) formed and sponsored Boko Haram to perfect their plans to islamize and Fulanize Nigeria and to make Jonathan’s government ungovernable which they succeeded in doing. We must not forget that Major-General Muhammadu Buhari was named the chief negotiator by Boko Haram for the failed talks in Saudi Arabia in 2014.

“Nigeria soldiers should leave IPOB alone and focus on fighting the monster they created.

“We pity Nigeria Army and gullible Nigerians who cannot see the inevitable violent collapse of Nigeria. What is happening today in Nigeria is the worst form of organized state sponsored hypocrisy.

Recruiting Boko Haram members and other terror groups into the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS and other security formations in Nigeria is a recipe for disaster which IPOB is rightly sensitizing the world about.

“Nigeria is imploding gradually and no amount of lies against IPOB will avert the impending doom of the failed British contraption”, Powerful said.

IPOB Reacts As Punch Changes Buhari’s Title From President To ‘Major General’

Published

on

IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, reacted to Punch changing of President Muhammadu Buhari’s title from President to “Major General.”

Recall that the national dailies (PUNCH NEWSPAPER) said it will henceforth address President Buhari with his rank as Military dictator because of alleged lawlessness and violation of rule of law during his administration.

IPOB while reacting to this development, commended PUNCH, said the newspaper took a tough stand against what it described as “autocracy and military-style repression” and “insufferable contempt for the rule of law” of the cabal allegedly controlling Buhari.

The group made the disclosure in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful.

According to IPOB: “On December 11, 2019, the Punch newspaper took a tough and admirable editorial position against what it called “autocracy and military-style repression” and “insufferable contempt for the rule of law” of the Cabal that is ruling in the name of Buhari.

Loading...

“While we commend the Punch for this courageous act, we must not fail to go down the memory lane to recall how Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has, in his broadcasts, vigorously criticized what is generally referred to as the ‘Lagos-Ibadan axis’ media in Nigeria.

“The Punch’s editorial shows that what Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been saying about the complicity and docility of the so-called Yoruba media in this era of Fulani impunity is beginning to sink in. We can only hope that the editorial board of Punch will stay the course and reject any financial inducement like Ray Ekpu did at the Newswatch after Dele Giwa was killed with a parcel bomb.

“We also hope that the Punch did not belatedly adopt this stance just because the Yoruba people are now feeling this serial tyranny that had started with the Igbos and Biafrans since 2015. To demonstrate its sincerity, Punch should walk-back and begin to chronicle all the horrid acts of impunity of this regime. It should go beyond the current travails of Sowore.

“Many people are still being detained and killed illegally, of which IPOB continues to bear the brunt of it. It has now been extended to Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, whose home was illegally invaded and burnt down, with many innocent souls extra-judicially executed in the process.

“Going forward, Punch must follow-up on its new toga by revisiting its shameful coverage of the horrible events of 14th September 2017. It was and remains a pivotal date in the history of journalism in Nigeria, because that was the day Nigeria media sold their conscience to Satan by reporting garbage and outright lies while innocent people were being killed in cold blood.

“It was so sad to see the entire mainstream media using their platforms to propagate damaging falsehoods and anti-IPOB narrative issuing from the murderous Fulani cabal that has been controlling the Buhari presidency since its inception in 2015.

“Today, the Yoruba race is being humiliated like never before and Punch appears to have realized this and finally got around to listening to the log-running admonition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is hoped that, from now onwards, the rest of the Yoruba media, including Channels Television, Tribune, The Nation newspaper and particularly Sahara Reporters will toe the same path.”

BREAKING: ECOWAS Court Delivers Final Judgment On Nnamdi Kanu’s Petition Against Nigerian Govt

Published

on

Nnamdi Kanu

The ECOWAS Court of Justice sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, dismissed a suit the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, filed against the Federal Republic of Nigeria, alleging that he was tortured, assaulted and subjected to inhuman treatment by security operatives when he was arrested in 2015.

The regional court in a judgment read by Justice Dupe Atoki, held that the IPOB leader failed to prove his allegations against the Nigerian Government.

The ECOWAS Court stressed that it had no reason to conclude that his arrest and detention were unlawful and arbitrary as claimed.

The three-member panel of the Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Wednesday, December 11, also dismissed Kanu’s request for monetary compensation.

Though the Court acknowledged that Kanu had the legal capacity to approach it to seek redress for any violation of his human rights, it, however, held that without a mandate, he lacked the legal personality to represent the IPOB before the Court.

The ECOWAS Court thereafter struck out names of the second and third defendants, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the Director-General of the Department of State Service, DSS, from the suit on the premise that they were not signatories to the ECOWAS Revised Treaty, thus leaving only the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the sole defendant in the suit.

The IPOB leader had in the suit marked ECW/CCJ/APP/06/16, which he filed before the Court on March 3, 2016, through his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, claimed that his rights to life, personal integrity, privacy, fair trial, freedom of movement, freedom of expression, personal liberty, freedom of association, private property, right to existence and right to self-determination were violated following his arrest and detention by Nigerian security agents.

Kanu also alleged that he was a victim of arbitrary arrest, detention, torture inhuman and degrading treatment while in detention, insisting that FG confiscated his personal belongings through its agent.

The IPOB leader demanded monetary compensation in the sum of $800 million US dollars.

However, Abdullahi Abubakar, a lawyer who represented the Nigerian Government, prayed the court to dismiss the suit which he contended lacked merit. FG argued that the country was obliged to enforce the rule of law as stipulated in its Constitution, Treaties, and Protocol that included defending the sovereignty of an undivided Nigeria.

Abubakar added that activities of IPOB were secessionist in nature as it instigated a separationist agenda among the people of the country’s South-East and South-South regions, using its Biafra Radio.

The lawyer to the Nigerian Government further averred that acts of the plaintiff were intended to garner support for a war against the defendant and carve out a geo-political area to be declared “The Republic of Biafra.”

Consequently, Abubakar stated that the defendant initiated an investigation into the allegations against the plaintiff that led to his arrest and discovery of illegal firearms and radio transmitters in his possession, items he said posed security risk to the country.

The defendant also submitted that the plaintiff was investigated while in detention for offences of criminal conspiracy, managing and belonging to an illegal society, saying though he was granted bail, he was detained again on fresh charges that bordered on treasonable felony.

The defendant told the ECOWAS court that although the plaintiff and some members of the IPOB had severally threatened the peace of the nation with their demands, it gave no orders to its agencies to kill members of IPOB nor did any such killings occur.

The Federal Government stressed that it remained committed to upholding the rule of law, while recognizing and protecting the fundamental rights of its citizens and all groups, including the IPOB.

Other members of the ECOWAS Court panel that upheld FG’s position and dismissed Kanu’s suit on Wednesday were Justices Edward Amoako Asante and Keikura Bangura. (Vanguard)
