Igbo Quit Notice: Why Arewa Youth Were Not Arrested – Dambazau

Abdulrahman Dambazau, minister of interior, says the Arewa youth that issued the Igbo quit notice were not arrested because they claimed to have been misquoted by the media concerning the notice.

The Arewa youth had asked the Igbo to leave the northern region on or before October 1.

But speaking at a press briefing on Friday, the minister said the youth had denied making any inciting comment.

He said the youth had also informed Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and the Department of State Services (DSS) that their comments were not properly represented.

Dambazau said efforts being made by the Kaduna state government and the ongoing dialogues are part of the reasons why the Arewa youth were not arrested.

“They (the youth) later claimed the media quoted them out of context. I am very much aware that the DSS invited all of them, held a meeting with them to which they made a statement to the effect that what was reported in the media was not what they said,” the minister said.

“They further wrote to the acting president indicating that they did not make inciting statement as to the issue of violence or forceful ejection of the Igbos in the north. However, it was on the basis of that, the northern elders called them to also reaffirm from them that what was reported was not exactly what they meant.

“Secondly, it is on this basis that I am answering the question, but it is something that the Kaduna State government is handling since that is where it happened. I want to think that it was on that basis that the arrest was not made.

“Again, there have been several efforts to dialogue between the northern youths and the Igbo youths. Several of such meetings have been held including the reported one that (ended in a) stalemate about one week ago but my understanding is that these various groups are sitting down among themselves to reach an understanding.

“More importantly, government gave assurance when the Acting President met with leadership from various parts of the country that nothing is going to happen to any person. Government has assured that everybody should stay and continue with their normal businesses.”

On whether Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had violated his bail conditions, Dambazau said it is the court that will decide his fate but that “it is not time yet for him to go back to the court for trial”.

“We have this assumption but I think it is left for the court that gave those conditions to determine whether those conditions were violated or not,” he said.

“If those conditions were violated, the court knows what to do. We cannot assume that those conditions are being violated. Yes, the public knows but the determination of the extent of violation will be left for the court.

“It is not like the police will go after Kanu to arrest him on the grounds that he violated the bail conditions. Kanu will have a day in court and the court will determine his fate because it is the court that gave those conditions.”

It takes brain to manage the masses when you are in charge of affairs of orderliness… This to mean you can not refuse to use the trainings invested on you as a corprol Marshall!

Oga Dambazau if it were the Ipop or Igbos that gave the North that quit notice, DSS, Police, civil defence, soldiers etc would have swung in to action, arresting every one that was present at that press briefing & slamming them with about 150 count charge on each of them, they may even charge them for treason which is punishable in so so & so section of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
But when it came from your fellow kings men, it’s just a context of press misquoting the Arewa youth Which the whole world watched. Any way oga Dambazau this is what is called double standard period.
    I rest my case.
    God bless my country Nigeria

IF you are an igbo man or woman, please kindly respect your self and come home now when they have decided to issue you with a passport you can know your fates, we have known this people for years, what they are about to do was planned long time ago. IF buhari had lost the election you people could have seen what will happen. They have not used the arm’s and ammunition which they stored in preparation for what they know best. Good people, kindly leave now or have your self to blame if you are alive.

The truth has cleared itself. Very disgusting and barbarous generation. They will not arrest them nor kill even during the protests they did against our supreme leader Nnamdi Kanu , those so called police were humiliating, escort’s them with horses. What manner of act is that ? May unnameable diseases devastes you sick nations of inbreds forever . Unless you have remorse and repents . Despite that ,the worse will befall on you . Amen.

Was there any reason for dialogue by the Kaduna state government ,if they were misquoted… Why was it not necessary for the Arewa youth to denounced the allegations before the press if they were misquoted by whom?.

  6. Uche Agbasi says:

And if they kill some stubborn Igbo guys, the minister will definitely say that the youths have informed Osibanjo that they never wanted to kill anybody. And that it was the hand work of some unidentified miscreants or of some foreigners.

[09/08 13:11] chukwuemeka: This is declaration of jihad and Christians in the North should understand them because of previous war at jos , Kaduna south , Benue state etc . They plan to spare no Christian , so CAN take note
[09/08 14:03] chukwuemeka: T A demand for independence is not a call for war, after all Nigeria called for independence from Britain was not taken as call for war , even in the world today . so how can they see call for Biafra referendum as a call for war that mean yes or no vote.
[10/08 19:16] chukwuemeka: The previous jihad wars in jos ,Kaduna, Nasarawa , Benue etc .The Igbo’s and Yoruba helped in curtailing it .With the planed Igbo exit , jihad will be an easy ride in these places especially jos were they said it belongs to them . infarct when they say Igbo’s they mean Christians, from previous utterances (infedel
[10/08 21:22] chukwuemeka: The idea is divide and rule. Keep them as different people and reduce their number then rule over them.
[11/08 04:26] chukwuemeka: The one the Northerners have been acting as if they are above the law, killing Ibos at will, allocating all Oil Well to themselves as they like, claiming the country belong to them’ and that the unity of the country is not negotiable which we know that every good marriage must be negotiated and agree, and their youth issuing quit notice without being criminalized. I think it has just begun, something more serious than all these will happen. If we actually want to live together, every aspect of the existence and the unity of the country must be sincerely discussed and implemented.
[11/08 04:34] chukwuemeka: It is a shame that the group that calls themselves the Coalition of Northern group does not know that there is problem in our land. It is clear that they refused to see the problem in Nigeria because the leaders they provided Nigeria have not taken the nation any where for the past over 40 years they were in charge of affairs. Nigeria needs to more in a different direction if she will survive as a nation.
If any person or group of persons is complaining about the situation in the country, the only way to stop it is to first hear the person out or listen to what the person has to say, secondly, if the person has said the truth, take steps to redress or correct the situation.
After taking the above two steps, there is no doubt that the situation would be changed for the better.
[11/08 04:39] chukwuemeka: The current Hausa hate song treading in the social media is despicable, sad and disappointing. Ohanaeze is appalled that prominent leaders in the north (with the exception of a few), have allowed this development to flourish without reproach. The Arewa youths have stoked the embers of hatred to a discomforting temperature. The toleration of their criminal conduct has potrayed the Federal government as biased and unfair.
Their quit notice to fellow Nigerians to leave any part of Nigeria strikes at the fundamental rights of citizenship. It is a call for the dissolution of the country. Their call for an inventory and seizure of assets of Nigerians living in the North is conversion. It amounts to a day light robbery of lawful property. The declaration of mop up action after October 1st, 2017 to deal with those who resist their quit notice order is a declaration of war. It is surprising that on top of all these a hate song calling for more hatred, despise and “abortion” has been allowed to fester. Yet no one is arrested. All the orders of arrest from Kaduna state and the IGP seem to be ambivalent and unreal. The youths meet freely with Governors of Northern Nigeria and Northern leaders showing that they enjoy their support.
This development signals the beginning of a national catastrophe which if not nipped in the bud will snowball into incalculable damage to our continued existence as one country. Ohanaeze gives notice to the Federal government to deal with this situation decisively or forever be held responsible for the consequences this abdication of responsibility provoke. A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.
