The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has lampooned Arewa Consultative Forum for attacking apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo after its (Ohanaeze) President Chief John Nwodo spoke against the call by the federal government to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement by its media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB insisted that its leader Nnamdi Kanu has committed no crime known to the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Also condemning a statement credited to the chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Dr. Paul Unongo whom Powerful described as “decorative happy-slave chairman” the group said the idea of wanting to use trumped up charges to justify the re-arrest of Kanu will be resisted by all men and women of good conscience.
“We Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu condemn in its entirety the statement credited to the clueless and uninformed Arewa Consultative Forum and their decorative happy-slave chairman Chief Paul Unongo for daring to attack Ohaneze Ndigbo Chairman Chief John Nnia Nwodo for rising up in defence of the truth.
“This truth is that IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has not committed any crime known to the laws of Nigeria to warrant his rearrest.
“If Nigeria ever had a case against our leader, why have the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) not commenced the trial since October 2015 when our leader was first arrested?
“Instead the Arewa North thought they could intimidate this present Ohaneze Ndigbo as they did to previous executives, into allowing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be arrested.
“They miscalculated miserably because all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria today including some of the most ardent critics of our leader have conceded privately that IPOB has given enslaved ethnic nationalities in Nigeria the impetus to rise up and question their slave status.
“The Fulani/Arewa born to rule mentality has been broken by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“People are no longer intimidated by the disproportionate number of Arewa sons in the military and other armed forces who are in essence the foot soldiers of the Caliphate and not Nigeria.
“The idea of wanting to use baseless trumped up charges to justify the extra judicial detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be resisted by all men and women of good conscience.
“After all it was Buhari himself that disobeyed court order after court order directing the unconditional release of the our leader in 2015.
“If anyone deserves to be arrested, it is Buhari.
“Paul Unongo and his caliphate handlers should also call for the arrest of the Director General of DSS and AGF for flagrant and serial disobedience to court orders.
“Whilst they are at it, they should not fail to add their beloved Arewa Youths, who actually committed the treasonable act of incitement to genocide, which is a far more serious crime than attempted coup d’etat.
“What Arewa Consultative Forum through their Arewa Youths did was nothing short of a call to mass murder and appropriation of properties that does not belong to them.
“Arewa Elders that incited the youths, provided them finance and logistics must also be arrested.
“It’s a pity that Chief Paul Unongo who appear not to know his roots, have consistently failed to raise his voice against Fulani herdsmen slaughtering and raping their way through swathes of Benue land where he comes from.
“That he found the courage to challenge the stance of Ohaneze Ndigbo publicly confirms what we have always known, that he’s suffering from what psychologists call the Stockholm syndrome.
“A man who could not rise in defence of his own people being slaughtered by the same Fulani cattle interest, shamelessly had the temerity to call for the arrest of the only person who had the guts to say no to Fulani herdsmen.
“Paul Unongo should in actual fact be grateful to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for seeking to protect his people from Fulani annihilation and conquest.
“We commend this act of Ohaneze Ndigbo for standing firm to demonstrate that they are different from past Ohaneze administrations.
“By refusing to be browbeaten by the mob mentality often deployed by the hegemonic Arewa North in times of crisis, they deserve our collective commendation.
“Fulani caliphate are not the owners of the constituent parts that make up the British contraption Nigeria and we IPOB are here to prove it to them.
“The Fulani cabal that run the Nigerian Government are busy deploying instruments of governance to terrorise the masses into accepting the rearrest of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who committed no crime known to law.
“We promise Chief Paul Unongo and his collaborators in the Arewa North that Nigeria will never be the same after this encounter.
“Arewa North should concentrate on alleviating the long suffering poor masses of the core North and leave Biafra, IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu alone.
“Our Parents’ Death Has Brought Us Closer To Each Other” — Kanu’s Family
The family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu said that the death of their parents have them to be more united against the belief by some persons that the family would scatter after the burial.
Though their elder brother, Nnamdi who is the first son of the family was absent at their parent’s burial ceremony, the family of late Israel and Ugoeze Sally Kanu said that they were grateful that the burial of their parents was a huge success.
Addressing journalists at their Isiama Afaraukwu country home, the spokesman of the family, Kanunta Kingsley Kanu thanked Abia State police command and journalists for their contributions towards the peaceful and successful burial of their parents.
Kanunta who also commended members of the IPOB in the state and beyond who stood with the family before, during and after the burial said that their parents were an embodiment of peace when they were alive.
He said it was for this reason that his father as the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu, was given the title of ‘Omeudo’, stressing that he lived with that peaceful virtue till death.
Kanunta said the family owed a lot of gratitude to journalists within and outside Abia for bringing what transpired at the burial to the entire world.
“I want to tell you journalists that our family members are happy with you, with what you did during the burial and we say a big thank you”.
Kanu said the family was also thanking the Abia state police command for the manner they conducted themselves which contributed to the peace that reigned during the burial.
The family said it was happy that despite the altercation between the police and IPOB before the burial, the commissioner of police, Ene Okon exhibited true sense of professionalism in the way he maintained security in the state on the day of the burial.
He said now their parents were no more, the family would strive to remain united and resolute in the fight for the actualization of Biafra, a movement which they said that their parents believed in.
‘We’re Ready To Fight Herdsmen’ — IPOB Declares
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared readiness to battle Herdsmen while calling on residents of South East to be prepared to defend themselves and land against further slaughter.
It decried the alleged involvement of bandits in what it described as “endless cycle of slaughter and mayhem especially in Biafraland,” particularly with recent killings in Delta State.
Speaking yesterday, IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s brave condemnation of Nigerian Army’s involvement in the orgy of violence unleashed by five different terror groups against innocent populations was an indication that the killings were “premeditated slaughter of the defenseless.”
According to him: “IPOB’s message of freedom is the only way out of the present impasse in the fight against state sponsored Fulani terrorism in Nigeria.”
He recalled: “In 2014, before the murderous tendencies of Miyetti Allah was unleashed on hapless Nigerians, way before Fulani herdsmen, bandits, foreign fighters, ISWAP, Ansaru, Al-Qaeda in the Mahgreb descended on innocent citizens, our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said it live on air during his prophetic message of 6th February, 2014 on Radio Biafra that: “Fulani herdsmen will be armed and encouraged to slaughter us with impunity and their masters will protect them.”
He said: “The US government and her law makers will now pay more attention to all IPOB submissions following this confirmation by Gov. Okowa.”
He vowed that IPOB would resist every attempt by the herdsmen to unleash terror on Biafraland.
“Therefore, we are calling on our people to be prepared because we are going to take on Fulani terrorists in our land.”
