Independence Day Speech: Buhari Is A Pathological Liar – Junaid Mohammed

junaid mohammed

Former Nigerian lawmaker, Junaid Muhammed, has lambasted President Buhari over his October 1 speech.

Muhammed said the speech was “not realistic,” adding that some of the claims made by Buhari with regards to his policies were not true.

The Northern elder noted that if Buhari was articulate, the speech would have been an “avenue to mobilise and regain the confidence of the people.”

Speaking with Punch, Muhammed said, “Frankly speaking, the speech is not realistic. There is nothing and there was nothing meant to be spectacular or unique about the speech of the 57th anniversary.

“It is celebratory. Where we have a leader who is articulate or is in a firm control of the government, the speech could have been an avenue to mobilise and regain the confidence of the people.

“As far as I am concerned, there is nothing in the speech to energise, galvanise or persuade me.

“The government muddled up a speech that should be about matters of national importance with personal reminiscences of being a young officer. This romantic lamentation does not have a place in this speech.

“Some of the claims the President made were clearly dishonest. For example, he claimed that his agricultural policies have been a success. As far as I am concerned, that cannot be true because I don’t even know the policies.

“If I don’t, I am sure millions of other Nigerians don’t know too. When you see the functionality of a policy, you know it is working.”

Nobody Can Unseat Obaseki, Says Umahi

David Umahi - Chairman South East Governors Forum

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi on Friday assured Godwin Obaseki will be re-elected Governor of Edo state.

He said nothing will stop the Governor’s re-election because he has done well and deserves to continue in office.

Obaseki is a member of the All Progressive Congress(APC) while Umahi is a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Umahi was addressing Obaseki’s wife, Betsy and other Southern Governors’ Wife’s who were on a courtesy call to him in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital.

The Governor’s Wives were in the state for the Southern Nigeria Governors’ Wifes’ Forum quarterly meeting.

Umahi said: “Power belongs to God and no matter what anybody will dot is God that has the final say and I can assure you Ma, you know as an apostle of the most high God I also prophesy . And because of the good work your husband is doing for the people of Edo State no man can unseat him.

“Power belongs to God and no matter what anybody will do, it is God that has the final say and I can assure you ma, you know as an apostle of the most high God I also prophesy. And because of the good
work your husband is doing for the people of Edo state, no man can
unset him.

“I made this statement so that the glory of God will become larger. It happened here in Ebonyi.

”I have a testimony of what God can do. Even in our NEC meeting, when Obaseki speaks, you see Economics.

“You see a man that came from private sector background. And so, we can’t wish that away. So, congratulations to you in advance and to all of us.

“You know the Governors; we have so many elections. First is the primary, second one is the poll, then the third one is the tribunal. Then another one is the appeal and then the election of the elections is the supreme court.

“So, it is not an easy thing and if the hand of God is not upon you, you can’t scale through all these hurdles. And so, it is God who has brought all of us to leadership and I say double congratulations to all of us”.

S/Court Judgement: Mysterious Owl Attacks Gov Ortom Inside Church

Shortly after the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirmed the election of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, he was unexpectedly attacked at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Makurdi, by a mysterious owl.

According to Daily Post, Ortom was in the church for a special thanksgiving service, when the strange bird attacked.

An eyewitness, Prince Tordue Abe, narrated how the bird, on Tuesday night, found its way into the Church, the exact time the Governor was giving his testimonies and went straight to the altar where Ortom was kneeling down for his testimonies.

But for the prompt efforts of some youths, the night bird, which is superstitiously believed to be a witchcraft bird, would have landed on the Governor’s head.

“It happened few minutes ago while the Governor was on his kneels praying at the Redeemed Christian Church Makurdi.

“An Owl flew in and headed right towards the direction of the Governor. On sighting the Governor the owl bowed before the Governor and together we rushed and killed it.

“Whatever it was they planned against the Governor, the Holy Spirit brought it to a halt.

“Indeed Governor Ortom is not just a man of God but a powerful man of God,” Abe said.

The apex court had on Tuesday delivered judgement in an appeal brought before it by Barr. Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressive Congress (APC), challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal to have upheld the election of Ortom, who contested under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 9, 2019 guber election in Benue.

In a 30-second judgement delivered by Justice Sylvester Ngwuata, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the victory of Governor Ortom, saying, “The judgement of the Tribunal and Court of Appeal need not to be disturbed”.
