If Buhari Arrests Jonathan, Nigeria Will Burn – Orubebe Explodes
Published
2 years agoon
A founding member of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Kennedy Orubebe, has said that Nigeria will boil if former President Goodluck Jonathan is arrested as a fallout of his invitation by a Federal High Court.
Speaking during the weekend to New Telegraph newspaper in Warri, Delta State, Orubebe said any effort to probe the ex-President should commence with thorough investigation into all sleaze practices carried out under previous Presidents and Heads of state.
Orubebe said: “I vehemently say that for them to make any mistake of arresting Jonathan will not augur well for the present government. But we know that past Presidents and Heads of State in the country have committed a lot of atrocities against this country and nobody raised an eyebrow. I repeat if Buhari’s government makes any attempt to arrest President Jonathan, it will not be taken kindly particularly by the Ijaws. In fact, the country will burn.
“I know for sure that Buhari’s government will not arrest Jonathan. So, let’s leave it like that. But in case it happens, the entire Niger Delta will boil and Buhari will not be comfortable wherever he is. In fact, government should not think of that.
“Although Jonathan ignored his people when he was in power and developed the North, be that as it may, let this government remember that he (Jonathan) came from somewhere because he remains our son no matter what.
“If the government wants to make any arrest, they should start from the past Presidents and Heads of State that did something unconstitutional against this country. I remember that Chief Obasanjo’s name was mentioned in the Halliburton scandal; so, they should not think of arresting Dr. Jonathan because it will backfire seriously on them.”
He decried what he referred to as disparaging statements made against Jonathan by Buhari’s aides, stating that that was uncalled for. According to him, there is nothing unusual about opposition party speaking against politics of the incumbent, provided they are based on facts.
He advised Jonathan, however, to maintain a dignified silence and feel free to offer advice privately to President Buhari when need be, even as he (Jonathan) should speak out when his government or person is being vilified or Nigerians are fed with lies about him.

2023: North Has Learnt Its Lessons With Buhari — Sheikh Gumi
Published
13 hours agoon
December 8, 2019Islamic scholars, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, has described Nigerians as very sentimental people who do not learn lessons.
In an interview with Sunday Sun, the Islamic scholar spoke about the 2023 elections, President Muhammadu Buhari and what is going on in the country.
Speaking on the coming 2023 elections, Gumi said stability is what is important now and not regional politics.
He explained that Nigeria is not about who leads from which region. He said what Nigeria needs is a crop of smart and intelligent Nigerians and it has nothing to do with whether the person is from the north, south, east or west.
According to him, the north has learnt its lessons with President Buhari. He said: “The north has learnt its lessons. Now, north is worse hit with Buhari. Jonathan was building 150 Almajiri schools, nine universities in the north. He was doing things. This Kaduna-Abuja rail, although the late President Umar Yar’Adua started it. So, let’s have somebody who can do it.”
Listing the qualities of the kind of leader Nigeria needs, he said such a person must be alert, intelligent, not take revenge, be forgiving, rehabilitate and not kill or imprison.
He added that the person’s mind should not be about catching people, but correcting them.
Asked if he has noticed any difference in the country since its return to democratic rule in 1999, he said there is development in the world as technology has made things better. He, however, said there is retrogression in government.
“Things are supposed to improve because science and technology have brought development close to the people. Government is retrogressing simply because we don’t have the right people in the right place and at the right time. Nigeria’s situation now is worse,” he added.
The Senate on Friday ruled out the possibility of declaring vacant, the seat of its Chief Whip, Senator Orji Kalu, following his conviction by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday.
Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment over a N7.65bn fraud charges against him since 2007 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The judgment was delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris, 12 years after the EFCC filed the suit against him.
Kalu was convicted alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and Jones Udeogu, who served under him as the director of finance and account at the Abia State Government House in Umuahia.
Reacting to the calls on the leadership of the Senate to declare his seat vacant, the Spokesperson for the red chamber, Senator Godiya Akwashiki, said it was not possible.
He said such a request would only be considered after the embattled senator had explored all the legal options available to him without success.
Akwashiki argued that the constitution of Nigeria does not mandate the Senate President to unilaterally declare the seat of any senator facing prosecution or convicted by a lower court, vacant.
He said, “The Senate has no reason to declare his seat vacant. This is not the first time that such a thing would happen.
“There is no provision in the constitution that says the seat of any senator facing prosecution or convicted at a lower court should be declared vacant.
“He still has the opportunity to appeal the case.
“Even the tenure of a former governor Joshua Dariye, who has been in prison for some time now, ran its course until the end of the 8th National Assembly. Nobody declared his seat vacant.
“The Senate President cannot declare the seat of Kalu vacant. It is against the law.
“Tell those who are canvassing such things that there is nothing like that, it is a non-issue,” the Senate spokesperson added.
On whether Kalu will continue to receive salaries while in prison, Akwashiki said the National Assembly bureaucracy determines the payment of senators based on the template from the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission.
Not less than N40 million was on Friday, December 6, declared missing in the office of Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown, the deputy chief of staff to the Bayelsa state Government House.
The Nation reports that about seven policemen and officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been arrested and detained as possible suspects linked to the development at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state police command.

Ex-president Goodlock, Ebele Jonathan is the pride of Nigeria and cannot be arrested. The Niger Deltans are peaceful people committed to the development, peace and unity of our dear country Nigeria. My advice to PMB. Nigerians must sustain our democracy, the footprint of GEJ in the unity of this country Nigeria should’nt elude you so soon, particularly now that we are facing hard times. Please sir, Nigerians need sustainable and inclusive development, good economy, infact so meny issues to address. Arresting GEJ is not what we need now.

Yes mumu Goodluck Jonathan deserve to be arrested cos when he was on seat, Asari Dokubo was telling him what to do for the betterment of his people but he prefer to dance and drink tea with these useless Hausa/Foolanis. To me he is the most stupid human being on earth. Buhari should arrest him and put him in kuje prison or kirikiri.

#ForeignReserve & #ExcessCrudeAccount.
Obasanjo, Yar’adua, Jonathan and Buhari.
#Obasanjo Left $45.0 billion in Nigeria’s Foreign Reserve Account 2007. #ExternalDebt #Baba_Iyabo
Inherited: $30 billion
Cleared : $18 billion
Paid: $ 12 billion Dollars
Left: $3,348.22bn-2007.
#Yaradua left $67 billion in the foreign reserve and Excess Crude Account but was depleted by Goodluck Jonathan. Obasanjo
#Jonathan left $29 billion in the foreign reserve account #CBN.
#Buhari: Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves have risen to a 31-month high of $33 billion, #CBN_Spokesman, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor,
But within 6 years Jonathanians Squandered about $55 billion. $38 billion from Foreign Reserve and $17 billion from Excess Crude Account. #BabaIyabo
But within 2 years Buhari save about $4 billion in the Foreign Reserve Account despite the crude oil crash in the world marketer. #C_B_N
