The social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, yesterday warned Dr. Samson Olasupo, the Christian Association of Nigeria President, CAN, to respect himself and stop lying on issues that could heat up the polity.
Reacting to comments made by Dr. Samson, over Buhari’s appointment, Onochie instructed him to emulate the likes of Fr. Ejike Mbaka and Pastor Kumuyi whom she said were true Christian leaders.
Recall that Dr. Samson had accused Buhari of being bias and sentimental in his appointments. A statement that triggers Onochie to equally accused him of receiving looted funds in form of tithes from the past administration.
Her statement reads:
AN OPEN LETTER TO DR. SAMSON OLASUPO, PRESIDENT OF CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA.
Dear Dr. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle,
I greet you in the name of whatever you hold sacred. It’s definitely not Jesus Christ. Mammon, commonly known as money, is my first guess.
I have chosen to write you this letter, believing in my heart, based on your utterances, that you have strayed from the path of righteousness, peace and love; paths, ordained by God for his sons to follow. That is, if you were ever on that path.
I do not really understand what you, as the leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), stand to gain from constantly misinforming Nigerians. You keep harping on the lie that appointments made by President Buhari and VP Osinbajo, were lopsided.
It has been the case that each time appointments are made, CAN would not bother to check the merits of such appointments nor the constitutional rights of Mr. President to make such appointments. It does not bother you whether the appointees are qualified or not. The prerogative of CAN, under you, Sir, and for selfish reasons, is that members of your religious organisations only, are appointed as a way of boosting your income throw tithes and offerings that accrue to you.
Vice President Osinbajo, a Christian Pastor himself, has severally, debunked the myth, the lies and fabrications about and around appointments coming from your angle. Each time, he does it with facts and figures. And then you wait for the next appointment to regurgitate the same evil sentiments.
But you Sir, President of CAN, Dr Samson Olasupo, continues to misinform and to incite animosity against a government that is reaching out to the poorest in our society, where figures show there are more Christians in government and where your Christian “brother” is the number two man.
We all know that there’s no correlationship between performance based appointments and religion nor ethnicity. If there was, Ex-Pres. Goodluck Jonathan, who crawled from one christian prayer house to the other, would have been the best President Nigeria ever produced.
Under him, funds allocated for federal projects in Christian dominated South were looted as the funds for the Muslim dominated North. Part of the loot, happily received by people like you in the name of tithes and offerings. Please show Nigerians where you condemned the heist and that act of treachery perpetuated by your affiliate party, the PDP.
It’s on record that this government has fulfilled the quota system and the federal character requirements in federal appointments. Christians who have been appointed into this government, know that the budget for their MDAs, are for the people of Nigeria, and not for tithes and offerings. They are real Christians who fulfill their religious obligations to their churches without dipping their hands into the treasury. They will not shortchange the people of Nigeria in the exercise of their national calling in order to swell the greedy purse of men who pretend to be God.
My expreince over the last four years has been that many Nigerians who approach government functionaries want something for themselves alone. Your role as a Christian(?) Leader is to educate our people in selflessness and preach harmony, love and peace, attributes Jesus and Pastor Kumuyi of the Deeper Life Bible Church are known for.
President Buhari is ALL about the common man: the weak, the poor and the vulnerable. He will continue to defend and protect our treasury for the benefit of all Nigerians, from people like you who hide behind the cloak of religion to advocate selfish interests and corruption.
The problems of our nation are corruption, tribalism and religion, thanks to unrighteous preachers. These problems are key in hampering Nigeria’s development. And you are fuelling these problems by what you say and what you fail to do.
Misinformation is a fancy word for lies and bearing false witnesses. We all know what the working document of CAN, the Bible, says about lies, bearing false witnesses and liars.
Proverbs 19:9 says,
“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.”
The bible frowns seriously at lies and deliberate misinformation. According to the bible, the righteous hates falsehood, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace. You, Sir, can now see that you are not a righteous man as you love falsehood and strive to disseminate it.
The bible, goes on to define the genealogy of liars. John 8:44 says to you:
“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He (the devil ), was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
The bible did not stop there, it says that the hottest part of hell, is reserved for liars. Chew on that.
If you have a deep rooted hatred for Muslims, go on your knees and ask God to forgive you. It is God who decides what religion we take by causing people to be born into specific families. If its the government you hate, you can start by trying to love VP Osinbajo who is also Christian.
You have continued to open your mouth and allow your predecessor to speak through you. You believe and have voiced that Nigeria’s leadership of today is not the best. Well, PRESIDENT BUHARI did not emerge through the barrels of the gun but through the expression of the popular will of the people of Nigeria. Nigerians who elected him, adjudged him the best. However, that time is here again with us. Please present your best candidate and let’s see how he/she measures up to the one you despise.
Listen, Nigerians are at their wits end with pretenders to the throne of God, Christians and Muslims alike, like you. They want to be left alone to continue to live as a people. Your role is to support them by emulating Jesus Christ in preaching love of ones neighbor. Since you appear to be far from Jesus, try to emulate Christian leaders like Rev. Mbaka and Pastor Kumuyi. That’s how you can be a great Christian leader.
Pres. Buhari is a selfless leader too and worthy of emulation. So , RESPECT YOURSELF. Henceforth, let all your speech be always full of grace, seasoned with salt…. (Col. 4:6)
JUST IN: Declare Kalu’s Seat Vacant — Abia PDP Chieftain Tells Senate
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia, Chief Charles Ike, has charged the Senate leadership to declare the Abia North Senatorial seat vacant due to the incarceration of Sen. Orji Kalu.
Ike gave the charge in a statement he issued in Umuahia on Saturday, saying that the people of Abia North Senatorial District were no longer comfortable being “totally eclipsed” in the Senate. “I hereby call on the Senate leadership to quickly declare Kalu’s seat vacant to enable the district to elect a capable replacement,” he said.
He said that the area had set a machinery in motion for Kalu’s recall and that the process would soon commence in earnest.
Ike also spoke on the recent defection of Chief Bourdex Ogba, the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Abia North in the 2019 poll, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He described Ogba’s defection as an act of “political indiscipline”.
He expressed disbelief that Ogba, who dumped APC for APGA, ahead of the 2019 elections, could “so quickly return to pick the same broom he said was not sweeping well”.
He alleged that Ogba’s return to APC was initiated to position himself for the senatorial ticket of the party in the event that the Senate eventually called for a byelection for Kalu’s replacement.
He alleged that Ogba had made four defections in recent time, having moved from PDP to APGA ahead of the 2015 general elections and later to APC and APGA before his latest return to APC.
Ike said: “His jumping from party to party smacks of political indiscipline and his desperation to go to Senate but you know that a rolling stone gathers no moss.
“Unfortunately, too, he lacks the political discipline to be trusted with any public office in Abia north.
“How can you trust a man whose only political antecedent is jumping from one party to another?”
The PDP chieftain further took an exception to a comment credited to Ogba, when he visited the APC national secretariat, where he was quoted to have asked the Senate not to declare Kalu’s seat vacant.
Ike argued that the comment was at variance with the wishes of the people of Abia north who, he said, were earnestly yearning to have a replacement for Kalu.
It would be recalled that Kalu of APC was jailed in December by a Federal High Court for 12 years, having been convicted for a N7.2 billion fraud, when he was Abia governor (1999 to 2003).
Although, Kalu has appealed the High Court verdict, Ike said that his continued incarceration left Abia north without a voice in the Senate.
Senate Declares Bayelsa Governor, Deputy’s Seats Vacant
The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan has declared vacant the Bayelsa Central and Bayelsa West seats vacated by present Governor and Deputy Governor of the state, Sen. Douye Diri and Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, respectively.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made the disclosure on Friday while addressing the first regular meeting of Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) in Abuja.
“In the case of Bayelsa State, both the Governor and Deputy Governor were serving Senators. Consequently, the Commission yesterday Thursday 20th February 2020 received two communications from the Senate President declaring the seats for Bayelsa Central and Bayelsa West Senatorial Districts vacant.
“The Commission will soon meet to determine the dates for bye-elections in the two Senatorial Districts,” the INEC boss stated.
Recall that Diri and Ewhrudjakpo were sworn in as governor and deputy respectively after the Supreme Court invalidated the election of David Lyon and Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo over certificate forgery.
Nothing To Attract Fayose To ‘Confused’ APC — Ex-Gov’s Aide
Lere Olayinka, media aide to former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that there is nothing that can attract any right thinking politician to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) let alone his principal.
Olayinka said this in a statement on Friday in reaction to a statement by the APC in Ekiti State, that Fayose was not qualified to join the party.
Olayinka said “it is funny that the APC in Ekiti State lied and went further to react to its own lies.”
He added; “As I write, Fayose is presently in a meeting of major stakeholders of the PDP in Ekiti State in the house of Senator Clement Awoyelu.”
He admonished the ruling party to focus its attention on its non-performing government.
He described the report of Fayose’s threat to join APC should his adopted candidate for the State chairmanship of the PDP, Hon Bisi Kolawole, fails in the forthcoming State Congress as figment of the imagination of those peddling it.
“The story of Fayose’s threat to leave PDP for the APC is one of the lies from the APC factory of lies and it is even more childish that the party in Ekiti State went ahead to react to its own lies,” he said.
While saying there was nothing to attract any right thinking politician to the APC, Olayinka asked; “is it the killings and kidnappings going on across the country?
“Is it the pariah State that Nigeria has become such that USA had to place the country on visa restrictions? Is it the huge debt the country has been plunged into? Or is it the directionless state of the country?
“Is it the sacking of over 3,000 workers by the non-performing APC government in Ekiti State?
“Most importantly, is it the confused state of the APC, which has made even the State Chairman of the party in Ekiti State, Mr. Paul Omotoso, to join others in calling for the removal of the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole?
“What is there in the APC to attract someone like Fayose, who is known for his stand in support of the masses of Nigeria that are being made to suffer more hardship by the APC government?
“They can continue to hallucinate about everything Ayodele Fayose, while he continues with his task of to rebuild the PDP in Ekiti State with a view to returning to power in 2022.”
