Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has warned the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, to stick strictly to the mandate of the commission and not be a tool in hands of politicians.
Magu had during a conference in London, disclosed that Okorocha was under the watchlist of the EFCC.
Also, last week, the Commission’s zonal head for South East, Usman Imam, disclosed that it was investigating Okorocha and the state government for alleged money laundering.
According to Imam, the Imo State Government used funds meant for workers during the just concluded elections.
Reacting in a statement, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said, “On Monday, May 20, 2019, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Alhaji Ibrahim Magu was quoted to have told Journalists at a Press Conference in London that the Commission was investigating Governor Rochas Okorocha over the bailout fund.
“Also on Friday, May 17, 2019, the Commission’s Zonal Head for South-East, Mr. Usman Imam held a Press Conference in Enugu where he told the world too that the Commission was investigating Governor Okorocha.
“So, Mr. Imam holding his own Press Conference on Okorocha on Friday, May 17, 2019, in Enugu and the Chairman of the Commission himself Alhaji Magu holding his own press conference also on Okorocha, on Monday, May 20, 2019, and only two days after, raises genuine concern. And has also added fillip to the governor’s earlier worry that those behind the drama over his Certificate of Return have not gone to sleep but have continued to spread their dragnets or tentacles.
“If you ask us, we won’t join issues with the EFCC as an Institution and with Alhaji Magu as an individual. Investigating individuals, governments, institutions etc, is part of the Commission’s own rules of engagement and nobody should prevent them or begrudge them for doing that. We only pray that the Commission should not allow undue infiltration.
“Good enough, both Alhaji Magu and Mr. Imam never accused the governor of mismanagement or diversion, looking at the Contents of their Press Conferences. They confirmed that the Commission is in Custody of the money. Out of the N8billion they quoted, they also confirmed that N7.9billion is what they blocked. Then, what is Owelle’s case? And the governor is not owing salary.”
It added that “Mr. Imam also threw a kite which could not fly when he told his audience that if not for their timely intervention“Over N5billion would have allegedly been deployed in vote-buying by Okorocha’s administration.
“How he arrived at that conclusion is what he never said. In other words, he believed what the petitioners wrote. Since investigation is still on, perhaps, at the end of it, the truth will become clearer especially when the incident happened long before the 2019 elections. And one could not have bought votes in the vacuum. Ultimately, vote-buying must be on the election day and perhaps, at the Polling Units where the voters were expected to be.
“Alhaji Magu is doing a good job as the head of the EFCC. But he should keep the 5th columnists at arms length. He should not eat with them even with the longest spoon. With more than one thousand landmark and verifiable projects to his credit, Governor Okorocha must have managed the resources of the State in his time as governor with high sense of prudence. And for patriotic Imo people, he remains the Defending Champion of the Imo governorship since what he has achieved in eight years exceeded all that those before him had achieved put together.”
Fani-Kayode Reacts To Buhari’s ‘No Visa Policy’
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday, reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s announcement of visa on arrival for citizens of African countries.
Buhari spoke on Wednesday at the opening session of the ongoing Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa in Egypt.
He said: “We in Nigeria have already taken the strategic decision to bring down barriers that have hindered the free movement of our people within the continent by introducing the issuance of a visa at the point of entry into Nigeria to all persons holding passports of African countries with effect from January 2020.”
But Fani-Kayode in a statement said the Fulanis of North and West Africa have finally been given what they wanted all along.
“They will flood Nigeria in their millions and within 5 years our demographics will change forever”, the former presidential aide noted. Simply put, visa-free policy for Africans to come into Nigeria is a shameless and subtle attempt to alter the racial and religious demographics of our country and open our front door for mass Fulani, Berber, Taureg and Arab migration into our shores.
“By the time they come here from all over north and west Africa and settle down, we the indigenous people of Nigeria will be a tiny minority. The next thing they will do is to implement RUGA to the letter and take our land and insist on sharia law being implemented all over the country. It is a dangerous, self-serving and self-seeking policy that will ultimately result in great conflict, carnage, racial and religious strife, and total catastrophe.
“In an attempt to implement an ancient agenda of Fulani hegemony and turn us into a conquered and enslaved people Buhari, his born to rule co-travellers and their vast legion of slavish sympathisers and supporters are likely to set Nigeria on fire.
“You will not believe me now just as you did not believe me when I warned about the true nature of Buhari in 2015 and the grave consequences of electing him as President. Yet my words have proved to be prophetic and just as I have been vindicated on Buhari I shall be vindicated on this matter of the grave and dangerous consequences of visa-free mass migration by vagrant, stateless and nomadic Africans into our shores.
“With this irresponsible, unpatriotic, dangerous and self-serving policy, I repeat, we are playing with fire and sitting on a keg of gunpowder which will eventually explode. It will be the final nail in the coffin of a united Nigeria. May God deliver us from the coming evil.”
Fani-Kayode Cautions Buhari Over Alleged Plot To Remove Oyo Governor, Makinde
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode, has told President Muhammadu Buhari not to meddle with the affairs of Oyo State.
According to the former minister of aviation, the biggest mistake President Buhari will make is to either bribe or coerce the Supreme Court into nullifying the election that brought Governor Seyi Makinde to power.
This statement came after the PDP in South West raised allegations that the president was planning to upturn the victory of Governor Makinde at the Supreme Court.
This was said in a meeting, which was attended by top PDP members like the Deputy National Chairman, Yemi Akinwonmi; the Vice Chairman, North West, Senator Ibrahim Kazaure; National Vice Chairman, South West, Dr. Eddy Olafeso; and Dr. Doyin Okupe. In a tweet yesterday, the former minister advised the president not to tread that dangerous path, as it would result in nothing but calamity, chaos and disaster.
Buhari Has Reduced Presidency To Fuji House Of Commotion — PDP
The main opposition party, People’s Democratic Party has declared that Buhari’s administration has reduced the Presidency to Kunle Bamtefa’s soap opera, Fuji House of Commotion.
This declaration was made in a statement released by the party as a form of reaction to the first lady, Aisha Buhari’s recent attack on the Senior Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, December 11th, Mrs Buhari accused Garba Shehu of selling his loyalty to her husband to people who are not in her husband’s government.
She accused Mr Shehu of being used by some persons to wage a media war against her and her children.
While reacting to the statement issued by the first lady, the People’s Democratic Party stated that Mrs Buhari’s outburst has ”exposed Buhari’s failure to lead and enforce an organized governance structure.”
Read the statement in full below:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the public outburst by First Lady, Aisha Buhari, is another sad commentary that further exposes President Muhammadu Buhari’s incompetence and why governance has failed in his hands.
The party says the development has also exposed President Buhari’s failure to lead and enforce an organized governance structure, and that the governance of our nation has been ceded to the chaotic and selfish whims of a cabal.
It is indeed appalling that under President Buhari, our once productive and highly organized Presidency has been bastardized and reduced to Kunle Bamtefa’s soap opera, Fuji House of Commotion.
Instead of governance, the Buhari Presidency has continued to serve Nigerians and the international community with tragicomedies that make mockery of leadership.
Nigerians can now further see why nothing works under the Buhari Presidency; why the administration has remained shambolic and plagued with policy summersaults and executive recklessness; why our economy has remained comatose and why our nation has been dangerously drifting to the brinks under President Buhari’s watch.
Indeed, the Buhari Presidency has proven to be a huge national embarrassment and a big problem for our nation.
Never in the history of our nation has the office, essence and symbol of Nigeria’s Presidency been so stripped and ridiculed.
The PDP urges President Buhari to immediately put his house in order and save our nation further embarrassments under his very incompetent, disorderly and messy regime.
