Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has been lamenting over his treatment by the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okorocha who has been at loggerhead with some senior members of the party, says he has been wondering if all he did for the APC was worth it.
The governor made the comment when Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo inaugurated some projects in the state on Thursday, May 23.
The governor said he had worked passionately for the ruling party but what he got in return was the seizure of his certificate of return and constant hounding by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
His words: “You may not know what this visit has done to us because out there, people never believe our story that we have done more than 1,000 projects.
“Our political detractors have never spoken anything good about us. The impression out there that this government has done nothing but believe me, what you are seeing here is one out of such 1000 projects.
“One of the things EFCC is investigating is N500million …that has made them close down the account of Imo state for the past three months and no activity is going on in the state and I think that is not good to a state that has performed and upgraded the name of APC.
“Since I became governor, I have not had one minute of my life; I have worked for this government but what I got at the end of it all was the seizure of my certificate, and the harassment of the EFCC. This does not give me joy but makes me wonder if it is worth taking the pains for APC.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had withdrawn the certificate of return of the governor for Imo west senatorial district, saying the returning officer for the election declared Okorocha winner under duress.
The governor, who denied the allegation, has since dragged the electoral body to court over the issue.
How Obaseki Paid ₦15 Billion To PDP For Guber Ticket — Ize-Iyamu
The All Progressives Congress (APC), gubernatorial candidate in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has accused the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki of bribing his way to emerge as the party’s flag bearer in the upcoming poll.
Ize-Iyamu alleged that Obaseki paid the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ₦15 billion to emerge as its governorship candidate.
He made the allegation in a statement signed by John Mayaki, his campaign Director of Communications.
The APC governorship candidate charged the state governor to explain to people of the state how he came about such a huge fund.
He also expressed optimism that he would defeat Obaseki at the poll on September 19.
“He is also yet to explain to the people of Edo State where he got the 15 billion Naira he paid the PDP tax-collectors to facilitate his imposition as the party’s emergency-hour candidate.”
“It is no surprise, given the nature of Obaseki’s administration and sharp practices of both governor and appointees that such an agency is missing in Edo State.”
Obaseki had emerged as PDP’s governorship candidate in Edo State after all aspirants stepped down for him.
