Afenifere Leader’s Daughter, Funke, Laid To Rest As Family, Governors, Nigerians Bid Her Farewell

Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Pa Fasoranti

The atmosphere of St David’s Anglican Cathedral, Akure, the Ondo State capital was that of sorrow on Monday as the church was filled with mournful looks by those who had come to bid farewell to the daughter of the National Leader of Afenifere, Mrs Funke Olakunri who was murdered on July 12 by suspected herders.

Delivering the sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Akure Diocese, Rt. Rev Simeon Borokini who took the bible reading from the Book of 1 Thessalonians stated that death was inevitable for all humans.

With the sermon titled “Prepare to meet your God” Bishop Borokini emphasized that, “all humans shall one day meet their creator by death. It could come by accident, plane crash, Boko Haram or Fulani herdsmen.”

“We must all believe in God. Most of us live as if the earth is the only place that we will end our journey. But there is another place called heaven where all the righteous will be.”

Describing the late Olakunri as a gem that will be missed by all, the Bishop stated that she gave her all for humanity as she touched many lives within the little time she spent on earth.

Bishop Borokini also maintained that it is only God that can comfort the family of the deceased.

“When you believe in God, it is only him that can comfort you. He is the only one that can console baba (Pa Fasoranti), the children the deceased left behind and her widower.”

“If you don’t believe in Jesus, then it is a wasteful life. He is the visa we need to get to heaven.

“No matter who you are, a senator, president, governor and so on. If you don’t know Jesus, you can’t get to heaven without knowing Jesus no matter your status.

“We are all going to give account of our stewardship whether you like it or not. Even Arakunrin Akeredolu will give his own account.

However, the Bishop decried the alarming rate of insecurity as he stated that Nigerian leaders should be alive to their responsibility.

“Do we have credible leaders in Nigeria? Do we have leaders we can reckon with? It is so unfortunate.

“There’s is a need for our leaders to improve security measures in the country. The moment any Nigerian step out of their house, they are taking a bigger risk. Nobody is safe in Nigeria at the moment.”

Dignitaries present at the funeral service were the Governors of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu; Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; Lagos State, Babajide Sanwolu; Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

Others were, Femi Fani-Kayode, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni; former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko among others.

Recall that on July 12, Pa Fasoranti lost his 58-year-old daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunri.

Mrs. Olakunri was gruesomely murdered by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on the Benin-Sagamu expressway while on her way to Lagos from Akure in her Land Cruiser SUV after visiting her 93-old-year father.

EFCC’s Visit To The Sun Office With Armed Policemen: Our Stand

Published

on

Three officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with four heavily armed policemen on Saturday, December 15, 2019 at about 10.00 am arrived the corporate headquarters of The Sun Publishing Limited at 2, Coscharis Street, Kirikiri Industrial Layout, Apapa, Lagos and put up a notice for staff and the general public to keep off the premises.

The EFCC officials, who came in a white Toyota bus with registration number, ABUJA BWR-644GA, wrote on The Sun’s fence, “EFCC, keep off.” They also advised our staff to collect their personal belongings from the office as they will come back to seal the premises completely.

We do not understand the legal basis for this EFCC action. It is on record that there is a pending appeal at the Supreme Court with Suit No: SC/546/2018 wherein The Sun Publishing Limited appealed against the Judgement delivered by the Court of Appeal on the interim forfeiture order made against it by a Federal High Court in 2007 based on ex parte proceeding. The Notice of Appeal and Motion for Stay of Execution were duly served on EFCC by the bailiffs of the Court.

It is also pertinent to state that EFCC vide a letter written by Counsel to The Sun Publishing Limited, dated 22nd May, 2018 and duly received by one Caleb Peter on behalf of Rotimi Jacobs & Co. was further put on notice of the pending appeal at the Supreme Court and advised to stay action in the matter pending the hearing of the Motion for Stay of execution and the appeal.

Again, it is instructive to state that The Sun Publishing Limited was not a party to the case of EFCC vs. Orji Uzor Kalu & 2 Others, so we do not see why the Judgment in that case should lead to attempt to seal The Sun Publishing Limited premises.

Further more, we are aware that both Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Slok Nig Limited have since appealed the Judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris and a hearing date given.

We wish to reiterate that The Sun Publishing Limited is an ongoing corporate limited liability company and its shares are owned by various individuals distinct from Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. Therefore, the recent Judgment against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu should not be used to disturb the operations of the company and the proprietary rights of its innocent shareholders until the matters are dispensed with at the Supreme Court.

In view of the foregoing, we call and appeal to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice to urgently intervene and advise EFCC appropriately on the legal consequences of its actions.

– Management,
The Sun Publishing Limited

Daddy Freeze To Adeboye: ‘We Need Factories The Size Of Ibadan Not Churches’

Published

on

Popular media personality, Daddy Freeze has countered General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who during the week, said one of the things he must do before he dies is to build a church as big as Ibadan city in Oyo state.

Preaching on the third day of the Holy Ghost Congress 2019 holding at the Redemption Campground, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Pastor Adeboye said he has a plan of building a church as big as Ibadan. According to him, no one should believe he is dead until that is done.

Freeze has now countered his dream. In a post shared on his Instagram page this evening, Freeze said what Nigeria needs now are factories and not more church edifices as he already has enough of that.

Read his post below;

GOD DOES NOT LIVE IN HOUSES BUILT BY HIMAN HANDS!!!

This in my opinion, is a selfish ambition (scripturally selfish ambitions are in the same category as witchcraft and sexual orgies), that does nothing for Christians, rather I see it as a quest to turn believers into beasts of burden!

? Galatians 5:20 ?
New International Version
idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions

The more I think about it, the angrier I get. Adeboye wants to use 3,080 square kilometers to build a church or a bigger business center, which one???
???

In this poverty riddled land, with more people in extreme poverty than China and India combined (according to worldpoverty.io), couldn’t he at least have been a little more creative????

We need factories the size of Ibadan NOT churches, we have way too many churches already.
With 10 churches on each street, we have so much religion, so much hunger and underdevelopment yet so little love.?

WE ARE THE CHURCH, NOT A BUILDING, the church is not the ‘house of God’, it’s just a building and God does not live in temples built with human hands.

? Acts 7:48 ?
New Living Translation
However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says,

? Acts 17:24 ?
New Living Translation
“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples,

? 2 Corinthians 5:1 ?
New International Version
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

? Hebrews 9:11 ?
New Living Translation
So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world.

My coworker just informed me that an airplane air RDU was purposely delayed because a little girl slipped the flight attendant a note saying “I’m being trafficked”. This man had legit identification to get them through the airport and all. That’s crazy. Police did get the girl.

For those asking, my coworkers fiancé works at the RDU airport. They had to act like the flight was benign delayed while police got there and surrounded the plane. I haven’t heard about it on the news yet, they’re probably trying to find more people connected.

He was really about to fly this girl somewhere. That’s really bothering me!
