The Lady who was found dead in a Port Harcourt hotel on 15 August, after being strangled by a stranger, has been identified.

She was Jennifer Nwokocha, from Omoku, headquarters of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni council area of Rivers state. She was found dead Thursday morning in a room at Grand Venice Hotel on Woji Road,

Her friends who identified her claimed that she was lured into agreeing for a night romp with a yet-to-be identified man for a fee of N10,000 and the Nigerian barbecued beef, popularly called Suya, as an extra.

Jennifer Nwokocha wrote the last UTME conducted by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board,JAMB and nursed hopes of gaining admission into University of Port Harcourt, her friends said.

According to them, the alleged killer came to the hotel at about 10 pm on Wednesday night and offered to pay Jennifer N10,000, which to her was a big deal.

The late Jennifer’s friends later raised alarm at about 8 am the next day.The killer had also stolen her phone and her money before fleeing the hotel.

According to one of her friends,” when the killer came into the hotel, he requested that Jennifer be called for her, describing her as “that neat girl”.

“Later Jennifer came and whispered to me that they had negotiated and settled for N10,000 for the night. I left them as the late Jennifer said the man had opted to sleep with her in her room.

“The next day, at about 8am, we found out that Jennifer had not woken up and when her door was opened, she was found naked with her hands tied behind her back with pillow case and another pillow case was used to tie her neck, perhaps to strangle her.”

Detectives from the homicide department of the state police command promptly arrested Jennifer’s friends for interrogation.

The manner of her death was similar to the killing of Precious Ewuru in a hotel in D/Line about two weeks ago.

Nnamdi Omoni DSP and spokesman of the Rivers Police Command said a Task Force would be set up by the Command to enforce the directive that CCTV Cameras be installed in all hotels.

‘Northern Women Are Mixing Maggi And Coke To Get High’

A Nigerian man has claimed that northern women are mixing Maggi – a cooking seasoning and Coke – a soft drink, in a bid to get high.

The Nigerian government has been making moves to reduce the rate of drug abuse in the country, and it seem the abusers have found another way to get themselves high.

Taking to Twitter, @KoloKennethK, wrote that women in the northern region of the country are getting high on the cooking seasoning and soft drink with just N120.

Wow. I just learnt something today. Arewa women are getting high on ₦20 Maggi dissolved in ₦100 coke (in plastic bottle).

NSCDC Uncovers Indian Hemp Farm In A School Compound in Anambra

An Indian hemp farm located inside a school compound in Anambra State has been uncovered by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

45-year-old man Amobi Okafor, said to be the owner of the farm inside Lake City Secondary School in Nri community of Anaocha Local Government Area was initially arrested for allegedly macheting a security guard in the school during an altercation before the discovery was made.

Commandant of the NSCDC in Anambra, Mr David Bille said, “It would be recalled that on the 13/02/2020 following credible intelligence report, operatives of NSCDC arrested one Amobi Okafor ‘m’ aged 45 from Uruofo village, Nri, Anaocha LGA Anambra State.

“The suspect was arrested at about 12:00 hrs for allegedly attacking, macheting and injuring one Mathias Ajoagu (security guard at Lake City Secondary School) m’ aged 71 years.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and took the NSCDC operatives to the location, behind Lake City Secondary School, where he grows cannabis on a yearly basis.

“Exhibits recovered from him include machet, fresh leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa(indian hemp) and other incriminating items.”

Billie further disclosed that Amobi will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to face the law and to serve as a deterrent to others, after an investigation into how he came about cultivating the illegal substance in the compound.

A Nigerian caterer shocked her friends when she took to Facebook to accuse her husband, Gbadebo of domestic violence.

Oluwabusayo Reuben wrote on Facebook:

“I think it’s high time the whole world knows this just incase I pass on, so ya’ll can know my murderer. It’s the man I’m married to.
He’s violent and he abuses me, beats me up over the slightest provocation, I’m done in this marriage, the whole world got yo know this!!!!!

“Tonight, as I came out of the bathroom, he hit my head on the wall, punched my face, my neck, almost snapped my neck all because I didn’t give him money.

“Every one is aware, both families are aware, the whole world got to know this, I cant take this anymore.

Friends were shocked and expressed it on Facebook. One mentioned that her husband seems “cool” but that she should stay away from him until she notices a real change. Another said, “I thought you were happy?”
