Coronavirus Spread Is Accelerating And We’re In A ‘Grave Situation’ — Chinese President, Xi Jinping

China’s president, Xi Jinping has held a special meeting to address the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

At the policy meeting, President Xi said the killer coronavirus spread is accelerating and that the nation faces a “grave situation.”

According to the TV report, resources and experts will be channelled to designated hospitals to tackle the virus. Supplies to Hubei province will be guaranteed and cost won’t be a hindrance.

Since the outbreak of the killer coronavirus, forty-one people in China have died from the disease which originated in Wuhan, a city in Hubei province. At least 17 cities in Hubei have also been locked down with more than 1,280 cases confirmed worldwide.

According to researchers, the virus, which can cause pneumonia, fever, difficulty breathing, and a cough may have been transmitted to humans from snakes.

‘There Will Be Many Deaths’, Trump Says As US COVID-19 Cases Tops 300,000

President Donald Trump of the United States of America, has stated that there will be many deaths in the coming week as coronavirus cases in the US goes beyond 300,000.

“This will be the toughest week in the fight against the deadly disease, and there will be a lot of deaths” Trump said as the US recorded more than 8000 deaths.

New York state’s coronavirus toll rose at a devastating pace to 3,565 deaths, up from 2,935 the previous day, the largest 24-hour jump recorded there.

President Trump emphasized the need to “get back to work” at a Coronavirus Task Force meeting as the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country topped 300,000.

“The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself, we’ve got to get our country open,” Mr. Trump insisted.

In Italy, the death toll rose 15,362; Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that Madrid will extend the country’s coronavirus lockdown until April 25, as Spain’s death toll reached 11,744.

In Nigeria, Lagos State, with the highest, has 109 cases; Osun (20 cases); Oyo (nine); Akwa Ibom (five); Ogun (four); Edo (seven); Kaduna (four); Bauchi (six); Enugu (two); Ekiti (two); Rivers (one); Benue (one) and Ondo (one), which was confirmed on Friday evening, and the Federal Capital Territory with 43 cases.

Globally the death toll surged past 60,000 on Saturday, according to the data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, amid over 1.1 million cases.

CNN Anchor, Brooke Baldwin Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Barely three days after her colleague, Chris Cuomo revealed that he has COVID-19, CNN anchor, Brooke Baldwin has tested positive for Coronavirus.

Baldwin, who hosts “CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin,” from the network’s offices in New York City, is now the second CNN anchor to be infected with Coronavirus after Chris Cuomo announced his positive diagnosis on Tuesday.

Sharing the news on Instagram, she wrote:

‘Hi friends – I’ve tested positive for coronavirus, I am OKAY. It came on suddenly yesterday afternoon. Chills, aches, fever.

I’ve been social distancing. Doing ALL the things we’re being told to do. Still – it got me.

I’m healthy… no underlying conditions…Honestly, I feel like one of the lucky ones. I look forward to being back on TV and seeing you real soon.

And shout out to the doctors and nurses who are doing the real work right now.

BREAKING: WHO Suspends Polio Vaccination To Fight COVID-19

The Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has announced the body’s decision to suspend house to house polio vaccination to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

Ghebreyesus disclosed this on Friday during a media briefing on coivid-19.

According to him, “To reduce the risk of increasing transmission of COVID19, the polio oversight board has made the hard decision to suspend house-to-house vaccination campaigns, knowing that this may lead to an increase in polio cases.”

He said that the Global Polio Eradication Initiative was “working to ensure that once it is safe to do so, countries can be supported to rapidly restart polio vaccination campaigns.”

The WHO DG explained that despite the effect of the coronavirus, the “EndPolio is unshakeable”

He however said that the coronavirus pandemic was a more deadly enemy, adding that WHO would support countries in the fight against other diseases.

“To reduce this risk, we will support countries to maintain essential immunization for all vaccine preventable diseases.

‘WHO has published guidance for countries on how to maintain essential health services even while responding to this crisis,” he said.
