Ikokwu 5: Police Pressuring Us To Drop Demand For Justice — Late Chima’s Family

Published

on

Members of family of the Late Chima Ikwunado, the Port Harcourt auto-mechanic allegedly tortured to death while in detention have raised alarm that authorities of Rivers Police Command are piling up pressure on them to drop their demand for justice.

Late Chima’s elder brother of the Anthony, told a Port Harcourt based Radio Station, Nigeriainfofm that as soon as the process of the suit which his family and the four Ikokwu Spare parts dealers instituted against the Police were served on the Command, the Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura, called on members of the family for a closed door meeting.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, at the meeting held on Wednesday, February 19, persuaded members of the family to “settle the matter” out of Court.

He said, “We were called and I met the CP Dandaura, yesterday (Wednesday) that we should settle this matter amicably without going to Court.

“Besides the Police, the General Overseer of a popular Church (name withheld), has called me over it. But the masses are still involved in this matter. It is not only us. Ohaneze Ndigbo and all the rest are involved in this matter. We want justice for Chima or nothing else, just justice. Those who killed my brother will go in for it.

The family of the late Chima and his colleagues had gone to Court to seek for justice.

Four colleagues of the deceased arrested and also tortured by officers of the E-crack Squad also known as the Commissioner’s squad, while in detention are also seeking justice in the suit.

The case, which is hinged on two fundamental rights matters were filed by the father of late Chima, Kelvin and the deceased’s wife, Adaugo.

They are asking for justice for the late Chima and four others allegedly tortured by the E-crack Squad of the Police while in custody.

They are also asking for the release of the remains of the late Chima.

However, when the matter came up in Court, the Inspector General of Police and the other officers listed in the charge were not present in court.

The presiding Judge, Justice James Kolawole Omotosho adjourned the case to February 27, 2020, after listening to the charges.

Meanwhile, the late Ikwunado’s family as well as members of Civil society and human rights groups waited endlessly on Thursday for the result of the autopsy conducted on the remains of late Chima.

The Police Pathologist, Dr. Stephen Musa had last week promised that the result of the autopsy will be ready in 10 days which elapsed on Thursday.

But despite waiting for many hours, no result was presented and there is no explanation for the delay.

Lady With Coronavirus Shares Her Horrific Symptoms To Encourage People To Stay At Home

Published

on

A Twitter user has shared her coronavirus symptoms to encourage people to stay indoors over the highly contagious disease.

The 22-year-old woman disclosed that she suffered headaches, had a runny nose, vomited consistently, had fever, became dehydrated and also suffered shortness of breath.

Read her tweets below;

I’m 22 and I tested positive for COVID-19. Take it from me – you do NOT want to catch this Hopefully hearing about my experience will help the rest of you to stay home (for real)

The first couple of days of symptoms were manageable. I had a fever, a mild cough, chills, headache, runny nose. Since I had been to Europe, they allowed me to get tested my second day of symptoms.

By the third day, I couldn’t keep anything down. I was vomiting constantly. I couldn’t sleep, I obviously couldn’t eat. At this point, I still didn’t have my test results back.

4th day: test back positive. I developed shortness of breath. It’s scary, it feels like your lungs are shallow and you can’t take a proper breath. I was weak, had a 102 degree fever and rising.

5th day. Things got worse and worse. I had never been this ill in my entire life. I was genuinely afraid I would die, because that is what it felt like

By the 6th day of symptoms, I was so weak I couldn’t even walk. I crawled to the bathroom to vomit. I became so dehydrated I called 911, and they took me in an ambulance to the emergency room. I stayed there for a day where they rehydrated me and got me some anti nausea meds.

7th-11th day of symptoms: ER again. I had never been that weak or fatigued by fever in my life. I either violently shivered in bed all day, or would wake up in a literal puddle of my own sweat. I couldn’t eat for 9 days. I was completely miserable.

Right now I am on my 12th day of symptoms, and I have my appetite back, but the end is nowhere in sight. I still have all the major symptoms.

A coronavirus diagnosis is dehumanizing and lonely, and I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. You aren’t invincible just because you’re in your 20s. Take it from me, and quarantine like your life depends on it (it might)

Vote Bernie this election cycle!!! We need Medicare for All more than ever. Oh and going to your boyfriend’s house is NOT part of quarantine.

My sister and i were staffs of Philip Smith Security Limited in Awka. The deceased (my sister) failed to be at work on Tuesday 24/3/2020 at Philip Smith security limited awka, which has never happened before because she is always at work and dedicated staff of the company. Following her absenteeism at work on Tuesday i put a call to my sister on her phone but it was ringing and she wasn’t answering her phone calls. She never responded to those calls and never returned the calls which is unusual. I continued calling her even when i dismissed from work but still ringing no response.

After work hours i made way to her house where she is living with the husband at Chima’s compound in Ezimezi village, Amawbia on reaching there i saw that the house was locked and the husband’s car is not in the compound, after several knocks and banging at the door no responds too.I decided to head home and requested that the husband’s number should be sent to me by. The husband number was sent and i called the husband but his number was switched off.

On Wednesday 25/3/2020 i went to work as usual but still my sister was absent unlike her because she was always punctual to work. I still called but her phone kept ringing no response. I even called all her husband number but it was switched off.

on Thursday 26/3/2020 I decided to stop at their house before going to work.Reaching the compound i saw police men in the compound and crowds gathered. When the special crime unit of the police arrived i was taken to the room to find the dead body of my sister MRS RITA ONYEBUCHI laying in pool of blood . And the body has started to decompose. The whole place was smelling and blood all over the bedroom.

I was shocked i couldn’t tell my mom at that point who also came to know why her daughter wasn’t answering her calls. Mama was suffering high blood pressure that why i couldn’t tell her then and pleaded that people should take away from the place. My sister was 2 month pregnant as i was writing this story.

Please I want the human right activist and lawyers to come into this matter and make sure that the suspect is brought to book to face the law.
