Thunder Strike Kills Family Of 3 In Benue

A family of three were allegedly killed by thunder strike at Tarau Gwer local government area in Benue state on Saturday night.

According to reports, the family died on the spot after the thatch house they were sleeping in was hit by a thunder strike,after a heavy rainfall.

The tragic incident has thrown the entire community into mourning as the man, his wife and their five (5) year old son died.

Peter Kembe, an eye witness told The Nation that the incident is the first of its kind in the village.

COVID-19: 325 Chinese Nationals Evacuated From Nigeria

325 Chinese Nationals have been evacuated from Nigeria in a plane headed for Shanghai, due to the lingering Coronavirus pandemic.

China has evacuated 325 of its citizens from Nigeria via an Air Peace flight that was scheduled to depart at 10:05 pm on Thursday.

The Nigerian government has also evacuated some Nigerians from other countries back home.

France, the UK, and the US are among the countries that have also evacuated their nationals from Nigeria since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Samir El-Khodari, a Lebanese living in Nigeria, has revealed that 25 out of the recently evacuated Lebanese nationals from Kano state have tested positive for coronavirus.

According to him, of the 125 Lebanese transported to Beirut from Kano, 25 tested positive for COVID-19.

The number represents one-fifth of those evacuated from the northwest state by the Lebanese government.

As of Thursday evening, Nigeria had reported 8,915 cases of the novel coronavirus with 259 deaths.

However, the virus was first reported in China in December 2019 and the country has reported at least 82,000 cases with more than 4,000 deaths.

Man Allegedly Stabs His Brother To Death Over A ₦100 Drink

A family has been thrown into mourning after their son, identified as Chisom Eze, allegedly killed his elder brother, identified as Henry, at their residence located at Johnson Street, Alaba, Lagos over N100 soft drink.

It was reported that it all began after, Chisom stepped out, leaving his drink, only to return to discover that his brother, Henry has drank his soft drink, which greatly infuriated him.

In anger, Chisom allegedly used a knife to stab his brother in the neck in the presence of their sister.

On seeing what happened, she ran out to call for help but he unfortunately died.

Eye witnesses allegedly tied up Chisom to prevent him from running while the police were contacted to handle the matter.

Police Officer And Soldiers Shoot At Each Other, Mistaken For Terrorists

Two soldiers of the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) and a police officer shot at each other, sustaining serious injuries after the Police officer mistook them as terrorists while carrying out their duty.

The police officer identified as Constable Emmanuel Ngao attached to Bura community in Kenya, reportedly felt challenged by the two KDF soldiers identified as Senior Private David Mbugua and Jeremy Malusi who were on patrol and shot at them.

After the Police officer shot at the soldiers, they also retaliated, shooting each other and leaving Ngao with serious bullet wounds.

Fafi sub-county police boss George Sangalo, whilst confirming the incident, said the three security operatives sustained gunshot injuries and were conveyed to Bura East Sub-County hospital in critical condition.

The report from the police reads,

“Constable Emmanuel Ngao was challenged by KDF soldiers, Senior Private Jeremy Malusi and David Mbugua. He mistook the officers to be militants, he shot and seriously injured them. The soldiers fired back and the policeman was injured on his leg.

“The three officers sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to Bura East Sub-County Hospital and are in critical condition.”

Garisa police commander, however said a full report will be issued after investigation has been concluded.
