on

Inter Milan are reportedly set to offer Lionel Messi the most audacious deal in the history of football as his Barcelona deal comes to an end.

According to La Gazetta Dello Sport, the Argentine playmaker, 33, has not signed a new deal at Barcelona and is able to walk away for free next summer, and Inter are ready to come in with an astonishingly lucrative deal.

The Italian outlet claimed Inter will offer Messi an incredible deal with a collective salary of £235million over a four-year contract that would see him earn £60m per year to continue playing through to the age of 38.

If the deal goes through, Lionel Messi will link up with his old rival Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A, who is with Juventus and will overtake the Portuguese star as the league’s top earner.

Cristiano Ronaldo was making £27.3m per year at Juve, before accepting pay cut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bayern Munich Crush Chelsea 7-1 On Aggregate

Published

on

Bayern Munich will meet Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals after Robert Lewandowski inspired them to a crushing 7-1 aggregate win over Chelsea.

Having established a commanding 3-0 first leg lead at Stamford Bridge back in February, Bayern quickly made it 5-0 on aggregate when Lewandowski – from the penalty spot – and Ivan Perisic scored inside 25 minutes at the Allianz Arena.

Chelsea pulled a goal back through Tammy Abraham after a rare mistake by keeper Manuel Neuer, but Bayern’s class shone through.

Substitute Corentin Tolisso made it 6-1 on aggregate when he volleyed home unmarked inside the six-yard area before Poland forward Lewandowski headed the fourth to finish the match with two goals and two assists.

Bayern will now face Barca in a mouth-watering one-game knockout format in Lisbon on Friday.

Juventus Name Club Legend Pirlo As New Coach

Published

on

Juventus have named Andrea Pirlo as their new head coach on a two-year contract, just hours after sacking Maurizio Sarri.

Pirlo was only named the club’s Under-23 head coach last month, but has secured a major promotion before even taking charge of one match with the Serie C outfit.

It will be a major challenge for the 41-year-old who has never managed before, either at youth or senior level.

Pirlo returns to Juve having starred for the club between 2011 and 2015. The midfielder helped lead the Bianconeri to four straight Serie A titles, as well as the final of the 2014–15 Champions League.

Juventus Sack Sarri After Champions League Exit

Juventus have sacked their head coach, Maurizio Sarri, after the club’s exit at the UEFA Champions League round 16 tie against Lyon.

The Serie A champions suffered 1-0 away defeat against the French side before the COVID-19 lockdown.

In the returning match played on Friday, the Sarri-led Juve attempted to overturn Lyon’s lead but faced stiff resistance as the aggregate stood at 2-2 at the end of the encounter.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s double in a home 2-1 win on Friday, Juve fell 2-2 on aggregate to the French club, ending their quest for a title they last won in 1996.

After the match, Sarri said Juventus are jinxed and on Saturday, he was shown the door out after just one season in charge.

“Maurizio Sarri has been relieved of his post as coach of the first team,” the nine-time reigning Serie A champions said in a statement.
